South American Adventures; in Search of Music with Jeffrey Skidmore

An online workshop with Jeffrey Skidmore, OBE, Director of Ex Cathedra.

Jeffrey Skidmore OBE talks about his travels in Mexico, Bolivia and Brazil over the last 20 years and will share the music and manuscripts he found and the people he met – singers, players, musicologists and librarians. Beaches, jungles, pyramids, volcanos, caipirinhas, margaritas and mate de coca also play their part!

You will have the opportunity to sing along to some of the pieces that have become the ‘classics’ of the repertoire, singing in Nahuatl, Quechua, Chiquitan, Spanish, Portuguese and Latin.

Jeffrey Skidmore has been Artistic Director of Ex Cathedra for over 50 years and has an international reputation for the quality and range of his work. Baroque music from Latin America has featured prominently in recent years and he has given many magical performances in beautiful venues around the world, he has recorded four  CDs, created many new editions and explored a whole new world of performance practice.
