MEMF are sad to announce that our friend and Treasurer of several years, Heather Holt, has died after a long illness.
Heather was a keen viol and recorder player, a member of various consorts and an asset to many MEMF workshops. When she bravely took on the role of Treasurer it quickly became clear that she would do a good job in the role. In addition to keeping a close eye on the finances, she organised several successful workshops.
However it was over the last 2 years during the pandemic that Heather proved her magnificent spirit, rising to the challenge of taking workshops on line with all the extra administration and chasing it required. Even more impressively, this was at a time when she was already fighting off the disease that finally became untreatable. We were lucky that Heather was able to join us for the first face-to-face workshops after the lockdown, and be reminded that she was above all an enthusiastic and skilled musician.
We received many, many tributes to Heather on Facebook and via email. She will be missed by our community.
As a reminder of happier days, here are some photos of Heather in action and a link to a video of Heather playing bass viol with the Lachrimae Consort in Oxford some years ago. http://www.lachrimaeconsort.co.uk/oxf…/dr_james_pavane.mp4
