POSTPONED \nDevotion to Mary as Queen of Heaven in 16th and 17th century Spain and Portugal found brilliant expression in the four great seasonal Marian antiphons sung after Compline. Will Dawes has chosen settings by the finest composers of the period\, including Alonso Lobo\, Padilla and Morales\, as well as Victoria’s glorious 8-part ‘Ave Maria’. This rich\, complex music\, some for double choir\, conveys moods that vary from serenity to lively dances of praise.
